Firefighter / Paramedic

This is an entry level position in the HCESD # 2 / Lumberton Fire & EMS department. Daily job requirements require the employee to participate in public safety by responding to fire suppression, EMT/Paramedic service request (EMS), technical rescue, and hazardous materials emergency responses. The employee will also participate in public education, fire prevention, and EMS/fire education programs as needed.

Essential Funtions:

  • Provide firefighting, EMS/Paramedic, hazardous material, and technical rescue as needed to meet the mission of HCESD # 2 / Lumberton Fire & EMS.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of the department facilities, apparatus, and equipment. Report problems through the chain of command.
  • Participate in pre-fire plans of district businesses to identify potential hazards to firefighter safety.
  • Complete a daily inventory of assigned ambulances and assigned medical gear.
  • Maintain all assigned PPE and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) as required.
  • Follow all department policies and guidelines.
  • Drive ambulance and fire apparatus as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the mission of HCESD # 2 / Lumberton Fire & EMS.

Essential Requirements:

  • Texas DSHS Paramedic certification.
  • T.C.F.P. Basic Structural Firefighter certification.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License

Preferred Education:

  • Associates Degree from an accredited College or University
  • EMS Instructor
  • T.C.F.P. Fire Instructor

Special Requirements:

  • Drug Screening
  • Fit for Duty Physical
